MAR ELECTION information

Open positions in 2018:

  • President-Elect

    The President-Elect shall, in the absence of the President, preside at all meetings of the Region/Affiliate and the Region/Affiliate Board of Directors; shall automatically succeed to the office of President at the end of the presiding President’s term; and shall perform all duties incident to the office of President-Elect and such other duties as may be prescribed by the President or by the Region/Affiliate Board of Directors. In addition, review of the WOCN Association Bylaws/Operational Guidelines as necessary to ensure the Region is in compliance with Bylaws set forth, for clarity and function; may administer the Oath of Office for incoming officers. This is a two year term.
  • Secretary

    The Secretary shall keep or cause to be kept the minutes of the meetings of the Region/Affiliate Board of Directors in one or more books provided for that purpose; shall see that all notices are duly given in accordance with the provisions of these Operating Guidelines or as required by law; shall be custodian of the Region/Affiliate records; shall keep or cause to be kept an accurate roster of the membership; and shall in general perform all duties incident to the office of Secretary and such other duties assigned by the President or by the Region/Affiliate Board of Directors. This is a two year term, renewable for one additional consecutive two year term (four years total).
  • Member at Large 1 - Communications

    Responsibilities include:

    • Information oversight on the www.marwocn.org web page
    • Solicit from membership appropriate content for upload onto website.
    • Ensure information on website is pertinent and updated.
    • Act as point of contact between the Board, membership and the webmaster.
    • This is a two year term, renewable for one additional consecutive two year term (four years total).
  • Member at Large 3 - Social media

    Responsibilities include:

    • Solicit interest and participation within the Region by tapping in to a variety of social media outlets.
    • Work closely with conference planning committee, communications director, webmaster, and MAR Board at large to enhance communication and networking.
    • Other duties as assigned related to social media communications.
    • This is a two year term, renewable for one additional consecutive two year term (four years total).

  2. Increase public and professional awareness of the important services WOC nurses provide

  3. Earn PGP points toward recertification as an Officer or Committee Chair

  5. Gain experience to prepare for National Office leadership positions

Requirements for Candidacy

  • Current member of the MAR as determined by WOCN® Society membership at the National level
  • Certification is not mandated
  • Previous experience in office is not necessary
  • Ability to attend periodic meetings scheduled well in advance, many via conference call
